There is a ferry to the island of Lundy, off the North Devon coast, which runs three or four times a week in the season. The MS Oldenburg sails from either Bideford or Ilfracombe, depending on the tide times, on a return trip for passengers and to supply Lundy. The journey takes around two hours each way. You can book accommodation on Lundy, if you want to stay longer than a few hours. You can find out details of the sailings via this link: https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/lundyisland/day-trips/ms-oldenburg/ .

Lundy is a beautiful place to visit, with a wealth of flora and fauna to see. In the spring and early summer many visitors travel to see the nesting puffins and guillemots on the sea cliffs (bring binoculars). The area around the island is a marine protected area, which means no fishing near the island. There is a breeding population of around 200 grey seals, who you’ll often see bobbing around in the bays around the island.
